Do a search for "trap door", and you will see that it's not too difficult. Basically, instead of dropping the rear axle to drop the tank to get to the pump, you just make a "trap door" on top. Makes it easy to access.

Why do you think the fuel pump needs replacing??? The pump in my opinion would be the last thing I would look at if I had a fuel issue. Explain some of your reasonsfor this question.

Really? I'm a newbie so forgive me, but if you have working injectors and a new filter, wouldn't you want to inspect the pump?

you only inspect the fuel pump if your car's not starting and you've checked the usual, battery, starter, alt...etc..... that should be the last thing you check.

Did you check the following fuel system items???
Fuel line pressure.
Pressure from fuel regulator.
Fuel pump relay.
Fuses.
Can you hear the pump turn on.
Then I would look at the pump which is the most expensive item to replace. My opinion.
