Default Exhaust Manifold

A bolt on the left side closest to the front is detached. Its like there is the head and a little bit of thread still hanging on to the heat shield. I'm guessing that there is still some of the bolt still in the hole. Since I can't unbolt it what would be the best way to take take it out? Liquid wrench? How do think something like this happend? And do I just get a bolt from the Chevy dealer or partsstore and put it in once its clear, or is there something else I have to do?

Is this bolt holding the manifold or the heat shield, or both? If the exhaust is not leaking, leave it alone.

From the looks of it I think that it holds the heat shield and manifold on. I'm thinking that it might be making some noises I've been hearing.

same thing just happened to me, except on the right side. if its leaking you'll probably know i'm sure. especially when you are accelerating. i just took it in, since i didn't feel like trying to reach it, and for less than 50 bucks had a new bolt stuck in and now its nice and tight, no leaks

Go to your local Checy dealer and get a new stud, they know what size you need. If you remove the exhaust manifold, there should be enough of the old stud standingso that you can get a stud remover on it and unscrew it.
