electric supercharger
I heard about this from a friend. I told him I would like to supercharge my camaro but that it would probably be really expensive since I've read u have to make other changes besides just throwing on the supercharger and then they told me that there's electric superchargers that just go right on and supposedly add a good amount of horse power so what are these and what's the difference between these and regular superchargers? Any info would help

Welcome to the forums, PedroRider310.
The simple answer is no, it won't do jack. I take that back. It will slow your car down.
For a detailed explanation, see here:
Understand Why Electric Superchargers Are Scams
Think of your engine as an air pump. When you give it gas, it is sucking air in via the intake. A supercharger or turbocharger makes that sucking in of air into being force fed air. The force needed to shove the air in an engine is WAY more than any electrical motor could without a power plant attached. Hence using part of the 200 HP of the engine to spin a supercharger or the force of the exhaust gasses to push the impeller on a turbo. See here:
A Review and Test: Electric Superchargers. - Boost Forum - j-body.org - the jbody organization
And you cannot fit the supercharger off of the GXP or Riviera on a RWD car, seeing as the inlet is on the wrong side (right into your cowl).
If you are looking for performance, get rid of the car and get a Z/28. They can be had for less than the cost of a supercharger or turbocharger kit.
Hope I was able to help. Come join us over in the lounge tomorrow and introduce yourself to the locals.

Don't get rid of a car just because you can't supercharge or turbo charge it. That'd be a waste of a decent car. If I were you I'd get some decent plugs, plug wires, and coil packs. You'll get more power then the advertised power increase from those 'fake superchargers'.

I agree if you want some serious power sell the 3800 and get a Z28

On 3800pro.com there is a 97 Pontiac that does the 1/4 mile in 8.658 seconds with a 3800.

Please note I did say average person, Yes there are guys out there that have machine shops and the know how to piece together and fabricate a turbo 3800 for a resonable amount of money but those guys dont normally mess with 3800's. Most of thoes guys are trying to get their LS1's under 8 seconds

So, to sum it up for you.
Electric superchargers = waste of money
A good set of plugs/wires/coils may improve mpg...and add 1HP.
There are little things you can do to improve the performance of the 3.8 but if you want something to throw you back in your seat from the get go, go for a Z/28.
