Default defrost button

Anybody 93-02 ever have a problem with their rear defrost not working?
When i press the button the light comes on and goes back as soon as i let go instead of staying on. If i just hold the button in with my finger the light stays on but rear defrost still doesn't work. ANy ideas on what this might be?

Are all the heating strips on the back window still in tact? Perhaps one is broken and so it keeps kicking the defrost off.

none of the strips are broken..... And when I hold the button it does get hot. Could be a fuse, but i don't see why the button would get hot and the defrost strips still not work.
