Default A curious gas tank question

I dont need to change my gas tank but I was wondering if you could replace the metal gas tank of the 98 with the plastic one?

Camaro fuel tank has a very odd shape, it almost wraps around the axel, it is tall and skinny. Do you know where to find a plastic one that would fit?

I don't see why you could not swith them out. Its a pretty big project in that you will need to drop the exhaust and the rear axel. If there a problem with the metal one?
