Default couple exhaust questions

Ok so right not my 3.8 has a bad cat (says the SES light) and a extremely loud magnaflow single out let muffler. Its just like the last owner cut off the stock muffler and put this big one on the passenger side. I want to make it quiteish but sound good. I keep reading stock z28 mufflers are the best. But how well do they flow and would this muffler for a z28 be a good one to buy? Walker Soundfx/Muffler (18375) | 1996 Chevrolet Camaro 8 Cylinders P 5.7L SFI OHV | AutoZone.com
Its for a 96 V8 but the ones for a 98 V8 is $130 compared to $40. I could have an exhaust shop weld it in and make tail pipes. Another thing, I could just delete the cat and it would be good?

How do you know it's the cat, what code did you get on your scan? Did you check that the car currently has a cat? What year is your car? Cat-delete = rasp -- much better off getting a high-flow cat like Magnaflow and others offer.

SLP rates the RS exhaust which has a Z28 muffler +5HP over a stock V6 exhaust. I have one for sale if you're interested including tailpipes and intermediate pipe -- PM me...

I got two codes when i scanned it 1. p0420- cat below efficiency. 2. p0332- knock sensor 2 low input. I know it has a cat and its stock. I want to delete it because a hi flow cat if 100+ for a universal one.

I deleted my cat cause of the same code, and I did not like the way it made the car sound after I did that, to much rasp. So now Im putting a Hi Flow Cat on.

It will not be "quiteish but sound good" if you delete the cat -- high flow cat is what you want.
