Default All sorts of smells

Almost everytime I start my car for the first few seconds I get a woof of gas smell, even sometimes when im cruising in low speeds I can smell it. that I'm guessing has somthing to do with fuel delivery maybe filter or pump. I'm not too concerned about that, what I am concerned about is when flooring my car I get a really nasty smell like a mix of gas nd rotten eggs. I heard somthing about a "soon to blow head gasket" giving off an eggy smell, is that true? Also could these to smells be 1 in the same problem? I hope its nothing big .

Your engine runs a little rich when it first starts up. The rotten egg smell is from the sulfur in the gas, and the cat converter converts it to hydrogen sulfide (the rotten egg smell). As long as the gas and egg smell goes away soon like it's doing for you, you can figure the engine is leaning out like it should be, so don't worry about it. For kicks, you can try getting gas at a different station, as one brand could have more or less sulfur in the additives, which can change the smell at your tailpipe.

Great thanks man, appreciate the reassurance. Do you know if it would help get rid of the egg smell if I changed my cat converter?

Also check that all your exhaust pipe clamps are tight, perhaps you have an exhaust leak so you smell it more in the cabin than you would normally...

As for the fuel filter, how many miles on the car since it was last changed? It is inexpensive and easy to change yourself. If you have say 100k and it is original, it's probably a good time to change it.
