Default Smells Like Gas !!

1972 Camaro...gas was leaking bad from lil hoses on tank....replaced all lil hoses to the tank and no more leaks.....the car smells like a camaro in the morning, but after driving it a mile or two, THE GAS SMELL COMES BACK !! Now I ask the question, what is going on? Can anyone help? Should I replace ALL lines? Cant find any leaks since i replaced the lil hoses. Why does it smell like gas!

My wife always complains about her car smelling like gas after I borrow it.
Seriously though, have you traced the vent line to see where it ends, if it still goes to the charcoal canister up front, or if someone removed the can and it's venting into air? If somebody did remove the charcoal can and maybe plugged the vent line, then you would need to put a vented gas cap on the tank. If the tank isn't vented one way or another, pressure is going to build up as you drive, and you will get gas fumes coming from wherever it can get out, which sometimes can be from past the sending unit gasket.

Ok..Where would the charcoal canister be? Is it under the hood? Just so I know where I should be focusing on? And which line would be the vent line? and How do I check the sending unit gasket? is it on top of the tank? Would I have to remove tank to check it?

Ok ...car does not have the charcoal can...the line is just left open. Also, what is that silver can behind the rear seat? It has 4 fuel lines going to it? The trunk has a strong gas smell...Could it be coming from that silver can behind seat? Do I need that? Can anyone reply?

To avoid confusion, why don't we keep it in your other duplicate thread: https://camaroforums.com/forum/showt...005#post514005

Gas tank is leaking from the neck. Can this be fixed or do I need a new tank?
