A coil pack replaces the conventional distributor and coil windings. It is what produces the spark by means of magnetic field induction and collapses.

If you are going to upgrade your coil packs, get MSD (Multiple Spark Discharge) coil packs. They intensify the spark by replacing what usually is one spark discharge with multiple ones. This burns the air/fuel mixture more complete and in turn provides more usable power.

MSD stands for that?

Anywho, MSD makes aftermarket coils, but Summit Racing makes a 'Comparable to MSD' coil that has all the same specs and is pretty good and cheaper.

Overall, coil gains will not be noticed, maybe if you have a power adder, a few

ok, then my next question would be how much trouble is it to install them? and i looked at summit racing, but what brand would be a good one? will this improve the overall efficiency of my car, ie mgp improvements?

The Summit Racing coil-packs have the same specs as the MSD coil-packs, I'd get those and save some money for about the same part (you'll be paying for the sticker imo)

If your stock coil-packs are good, then you wont notice any or a very small difference before and after.

Installation is a breeze, even for a newbie...took me no more than 10-20 mins
