Catalytic converter QUESTION!
I need to replace my cat in my car. i have a 1996 camaro 3.8L V6. Everyone keeps telling me, the cat needs to be OBDII compliant. Well i went on drivewiredotcom and they had a magnaflow exhaust for my car for like $75, which said was OBDII compliant. Everyone all over town wants to charge like 300 bucks including installation for their own cat.
TO add, im in CALIFORNIA where smog laws are ridiculous.
Hhere is the magnaflow cat
Also, awhile back i converted the Exhaust to some FLOWMASTERS, split dual pipes. I dont know where my cat is under the car, in the front? or in the back? I need to know if the magnaflow cat is CALIFORNIA APPROVED. i called drivewire, and they knew nothing!!! had no idea. Please help me out..

yes, that is a good cat, and approved, you can even look at magnaflow.com. its under the car at the start of your exhaust system, places want to charge rediculous amouts for catylatic converters, but when i bought one it was around 75 and they charged me 50 bucks to put it in there, so dont be fooled.
Usually cats run for like $275...but if you got one for $75 and it's from magnaflow I say you got yourself a deal. And to install should be no more than $50-$75.....it's just a matter of cutting to ends and welding it back, 45 minutes top for installation. Your cat is located near the front...should be right under the passenger side seat.
