Hey guys, I'm new here and looking for some info. My brother may be getting a new car and I will likely take over his 94 Camaro with 4 sp auto and 3.4 V6(Magnaflow exhaust and K&N CAI). I know Comp Cams makes some camshafts for this engine but which one is the most aggressive I can go with without affecting driveability too much? Also how much does a cam swap usually run at a shop? (I have a Crown Vic with the 4.6 V8 SOHC so I'm not used to things on OHV engines)

Cam swap on a OHV V6 should cost 1/2 of a twin cam engine. As for cam selection, you need to talk to the cam grinders and tell them what you have and what you plan to do

 

I have a five speed manual transmission and I want to do an LT1 engine swap. I understand an LT1 requires a six speed tranmission but I was told that my original 5 speed tranmission could handle the LT1. would it be a wise idea to go on and do the engine swap w/o replacing the transmission. And if I dont replace the transmission what problems could I run into?

 

The 5 speed behind a good LT1 gets marginal. It may survive if you don't do silly things such as dumping the clutch, or powershifting. A mistake at WOT will probably kill it.
