Which Oil?
Open your owners manual and run what is recommended there if your engine is stock. Higher viscosity oil is harder to get into tight bearing clearances and will not lubricate as well because of that. If your engine has it's bearing clearances opened up for extreme duty then use heavier weight oil. I also highly recommend a synthetic oil in all circumstances. I have run Mobil 1 in everything since 1989 since it did so well in some "Dyno test to destruction" engines I built.

Just got my 3.8 on Tuesday and the dealership gave me a free oil change. For when I do it next time, though, which kind of oil is supposed to be ran on these motors?

mobil 1 10w-30 is working great in mine. it even an oil leak i had. that's what i converted over to. everything else was just too thin. but i heard AMSOIL is really great for ur car, just never had the chance to get my hands on some. reviews everywhere on the internet (mobil 1 vs. amsoil--look on google) amsoil seems to come out nbr 1. But what's available is mobil 1 (5.99 /qt or 22.14 -5 qt at walmart) and castrol syntec (5.49 qt)
