Default Cam removal/install questions

so to start i just got my first camaro, 2000 with a 3800 v6, i got it for $500, just had a blown head gasket, she runs smooth except for some lifter noise, so i plan on getting new lifters, but while I'm at it I want to install a GT2 cam (also going to go ahead and rebuild the oil pump, new timing chain, pushrods, valves and springs), now I've only ever did this kind of work on sbc's and with the engine on a stand, i was thinking if i pull the radiator out i could slip the new cam in. does any on have any link to removal/install guides for the 3800 cam?

should look around for a series 3, 3.8 and change engine, pick up an extra 20-30hp. info here https://camaroforums.com/forum/93-02...nt-info-57568/ if coolant got in the oil on the current engine the anti-freeze will eat the bearings and it will fail in short order. for a factory service manual go here and download the file for 2000fb http://www.mediafire.com/?40mfgeoe4ctti

Really good cam install guide

Don't forget you'll need a really good tune to get the car running right after the cam, mine wouldn't run at all on the stock tune.

Grab the GM shop manual PDF from the manual section. Most of the time GM lifter noise come from carbon deposits floating in the oil. A good synthetic oil and a good low micron filter will quiet them do in a couple of oil changes. It would be a good idea to do it even if you plan on swapping cam and lifters. those carbon deposits get all through the motor. If you can avoid it you do not want to put new parts in until everything is running clean.

The GT2 Cam makes more power at higher RPMs and loses power in the normal driving range, you should do headers first. You also want to make sure you have the right gearing for whatever it is you want to do with the car.
