Default burping the coolant system

hello i just finished a lifter job on my 96 rs and i can not seem to get the air out of the engines cooling system. i had the cap off of the radiator and let the car idle for over 20min but the temp never came down. please help, a mechanic mentioned something about an air bleeder but i have no idea what that is or where it is. anyone that can help, thank you!

On the t-stat housing, there is a bleeder screw.

I believe the owner's manual says to fill it up until coolant comes out that hole. Which to me, is a physical impossibility (w/o engine running) due it be higher than the fill point.

Fill to the highest point possible and cap the radiator. Start the car. Wait for bubbles and a constant stream of coolant to pass through the bleeder port. Tighten. Done.

Make sure there's plenty of coolant in the overflow tank so the system doesn't suck air back in.
