I was going to suggest raising the air pressure to 50 PSI and dumping the clutch at 7000 RPM. lol

OK you have an engine that is not known for its ability to bake tires. You can launch good with the car if you learn where your torque peaks and let the clutch out there. You cant just dump the clutch but an aggressive release will do you good. Dumping the clutch will not provide you with a good launch even with a V8, it puts too much stress on the engine and drops the RPMs too low to get the car moving good. As for smoking tires... why? yea it is fun but if you are racing you do not want to smoke them before a launch. That was 40's and 50's drag racing style. Your new tires are softer than the old ones and will give you better traction in cornering and in launching. There is nothing wrong with your car... it is your tires.

I have a 3.4L with 255 tires and I can burn them no problem! I have a stage-II clutch but it shouldn't matter too much. Sounds to me like you have a power loss from a plugged cat, bad head gasket, or your clutch is bad.

Its' the combination of Smoked corners, tail lights, and side markers with the new tires holding you back, get rid of the tail lights.

All kidding aside.......it's not a 5.7

Well I found out that my intake gasket has a slight leak. It's not very noticeable except when I first start the car it runs a little rough. The clutch is also INDEED slipping a little bit. I found that out yesterday when I smelled it burning when I did a hard launch. And Massey: I only burn the tires because it's fun I don't race the car a whole lot but I like getting the rear end loose lol

I used to be able to leave dual black marks for 50 feet if I stood on the brake

Just a heads up. Going into the v6 forum and picking on V6's will get you punted from this site. The 4th gen V6's make up the largest group on this site. If you have no interest in V6's you should just stay out.
