Burning tires?
Hey everyone. So here's the issue. When I first bought my car is has crappy tires on it. I could spin em pretty dang easy. Now that I have z rated 245's all around I can't get them to spin at all unless I'm taking off on a corner, then the car gets sideways. I can't even get them to spin if I run my rpm's up to 3500 or so and dump the clutch. They just grab up and the car tries to die from the rpm's dropping so rapidly. I can't do a hard start either. So for race purposes I have to ease out my clutch to take off which sucks. Otherwise my car just about dies... Am I doing something wrong here? lol

I don't think they had traction control then... but if you do, turn it off lol.
I would think you should be able to spin the tires pretty good, but the tires can make a big difference. Throw your spare tire on your drive wheel and give it a shot. |
There's no traction control on mine lol. And I did try the spare one day for grins and the same thing happened. 3500rmp's, dumped the clutch, the car died and I looked like a ****** bag...

Clutch slipping at all? Don't know what else would cause this really.
|
Clutch doesn't slip at all.

165 HP low torque motor in a 3500 lb car with good tires. I can see that not wanting to spin tires. Even in a small amount of clutch slipage would put an end to and tire spinning. Go easy on the clutch the stock clutchs in these things are not very good.

Tires cost to much to spin! LOL.

Not really. I got all my tires AND a set of Camaro wheels for $80. The tires are z rated goodyears and they looked brand new.

Ummmm....isn't wanting good traction supposed to be one of the main goals?
