Right on! I'm doing the same thing to my Camaro too! If you look at my build thread you'll see it. I didn't know there was an SLP intake for the 3.4L? Can't wait to see your progress!

^Here's the SLP 3.4 CAI. It's actually to a LT1 car but it's the exact same thing. It'll bolt right up to a 3.4. I almost bought it before I got my hands on a used K&N CAI.

Ah, I didn't know the SLP intake for the LT1 fit on the 3.4L. Now, what would be the HP gain versus the setup I have now? I'm building a box to go around my cone so it sucks cold air behind the headlight and I am extending the CAI pipe to go right to the throttlebody. This is my current set up:

Well if you want the best performance, you'll extend that pipe all the way down to the air dam area where the air comes from. Then make a little plate that blocks off the engine heat from the air dam area. Just like the K&N CAI does. Basically the air filter can not be seen from under the hood of the car. You have to get under the car and remove the air dam to see the filter. Here's a pic of my K&N CAI. The SLP works the same way as mine. It goes all the way to the air dam area.

In this next picture you can see the heat shield down close to the filter...

As for HP gain, you won't gain much. 1-3 at most I'd say. I've heard that the real gain is in the MPG's when you do a decent CAI.
