OK so I may just take the gasket or o-ring to the parts store so I can get the right one.

yea a auto parts should have it. now the only thing that has me concerned about the shaft being the problem is the matter of fact that the clamp holding the pump shaft is usually torqued down pretty. Craby is right... In order for that much oil to leak out at a given time, the shaft would have had to POP up atleast a inch above the seal. now if it would have POP up that far with it being camshaft driven, you would have lossed all oil pressure. the needle on your dash would have dropped to zero and you 3.4 would have more than likely locked up. I think you should just replace your main seal. now can stick you hand back there on top from the passenger side and feel around top of the pump drive shaft for oil. since you took your converter shield off, have you check the back of the oil pan gasket for leaks?

if the oil is coming from up high as he has said and the 3.4 is like most gm motors nowdays the rear intake seal will leak quite a bit if the rvt is blown out or theres not enough. who did the intake gaskets?

I will just have to look for it, and I was the one that done the intake gasket on it.

I'm not positive, but I think there's an improved o-ring for this over the stock. I think it's brown instead of black. Might want to check into that.

I know that I have not said but I did get the oil leak fixed, it was a bad gasket.
Thanks everyone for all of your help.
