Bad Oil Leak

looks like its coming down each side of the motor. i would take a closer look at the back of the motor

I got the shield off the tranny, and it had oil in it also, With out having a light with me under the car tonight, I could not tell to much, but it would have to be coming from the back of the motor is the shield had oil in it, don't you think.

yah, its just wierd that there are two puddles with a clean space between.

yea that why I got the shield off the tranny cause the puddles were in about the same space has that, and it had the oil sitting in it, and it was all over the flywheel

well you will need to take the trany out and flywheel off to get to the seal.

How hard it is the put in a new seal?

I would also check the plug where the distributor would go, I know that the old 3.1's had this problem where the gasket would go bad and lose a lot of oil. Also that might explain why its leaking on both sides cause it is placed in the middle of the top of the block

Ok I will look at that also after I get tranny and flywheel out of the way.

That's not a leak, that's a gusher! With the car up on ramps and engine running, you should be able to get under there and see where it's flowing from. Be sure to wear your raincoat!
