Forget about manual if you get stuck in traffic a lot -- stop & go is no fun in a manual!

I've had the automatic and the standard, and after driving them both... let's just say that having a Camaro without a standard tranny is like having a Nascar Car without any sponsors or emblems... it just don't seem right

I dont mind stop and go at all in my six speed. I live in wv and there are all kinds of 5 speed v-6's around here. Why are you looking for a v-6? I get 27 miles to the gallon in my 93 z28 6 speed on the highway and its not bad in the city, plus its a whole different car. I'm not ragging on v-6's, I was just wondering why you would prefer a v-6 over a v-8

Insurance perhaps? It has a way of crushing your hopes and dreams when it comes to what kind of car you want to buy...

It was for my insurance, and my parents want me to become more experienced before I start doing burnouts with a V8 . Since they paid for half of it, what they say goes. I'm very happy with what I got, it's damn great for a first car. The gas mileage is pretty good with my 6 and it does pull when it needs to.. I don't need any more power for now.

Thats a really nice looking car. It looks a lot like mine with much nicer paint. Mine needs painted bad. Around here insurance is the same on whatever you drive as long as it is liability. If I were to get full coverage it would be a lot more. I run my camaro during the summer and a ford ranger during the winter and i just transfer insurance and there both the same amount. $41 and some change a month.

If you're into racing, know this though... An auto is more consistent and with a higher stall, will outperform a manual all day long. The stock converter on the auto tranny is HUGE and there's a lot of power lost in all that fluid. The smaller converter makes the trans more efficient as less power is lost AND the stall speed will improve your 60' time greatly (which is where most ppl lose their time... The auto will hold power and torque better into the high RPMs better than the manual as well)

2001 RS, manual. Thanks, I paid roughly 7200 including fees and most people tell me I got my money's worth. Everything is rust free and there are no problems with it for now, except for a little "service engine soon" every now and then. I'm thinking of getting a cold air intake for it but I gotta look into that when I have the time.
