Auto Tranny... wont shift out of third??

i got a 2000 camaro a couple weeks ago and have now found that when i floor it, it wont shift our of third!?!?! it is fine when i am just driving normally but if i floor it, it just keeps red lining in third! what the ****!? HELP!?!?!?

Check the shifter cable & make sure it is properly adjusted. If that is ok, then there are some internal problems.

nope no service engine light on.... but my dad just told me when he was lookin it over the he saw that the tranny fluid was brown because it was so old... so i am bringin it to the mechanic tomorrow to have him flush it out and put in new... could this be the problem????

Dont be surprised if it will start slipping afterwards. The tranny went to long with out a service and it is probly a lot of clutch material in your fluid.
