Armor-coated Headers: Worth It?
#11
Honestly get the ceramic coated they are well worth the money. My painted pacesetters only last like 5mins after turning on the car and now they look like shat. They get very hot under the engine aswell and I don't like that. Also be prepared to be creative with the egr tube. Mine is a 96 so it might be different for yours.

95-02 CHEVY CAMARO V6 3.8L OBX EXHAUST HEADER MANIFOLD | eBay
I had mine 2.5 years They tuned a goldish color after the first few weeks. The only issue I had what the suppied bolts were no where near long enough to be used as intended. I trip to the hardware store and $9 later I was good. I also used the EGR connection for the 02 motor The 96 EGR tube was going to take a lot of persuaving to work. At the time I bought them they where $80 more then the painted pacesetters. I am cheap but IMO it was $80 well spent.

Do you have a pic of the other side of the motor ? I got a 09 buick engine and got a lot of stuff off my 97 today and am comparing the differences between the motors and what I can and cant change.

I just cannot fathom why anyone would waste money installing anything less than Long Tube Headers on a 98+ V6 Camaro? Yes, LTs do exist for 3.8L Camaros! FFF, or custom one-offs are the options I am aware of.

Just when I had decided that this wouldn't be so expensive. Had to dangle that in front of me, didn't you?
Liberty, the reason I wouldn't have gone with LTs is the fact that the ones Socom posted were the only ones I could find, and I only found them from when they were made. I think they were $800 sans Y-pipe then.

I could go into the cost factor but that point is moot. The true cost to mass produce long tube vs short tube would be less than a 10% increase. The manufacturer just knows most people would not be happy with them. Long tubes current cost are high because of volume. The 1- 2% of the V6 world that would actually dyno or race a V6 is simply not worth mass production.
