Default 97 RS swap

I have a question, more like a dilema. I have a family member who wants me to take over her payments on her 1997 RS. I would, but I hate the 6 cyl.! So, I would take the RS from her if I could find out how much trouble it would be to swap out a V8 for the puny 6. I would appreciate any information anybody would have on what motors would work the best, what would be the easiest ammount of work for my buck. I have mild to moderate mechanical skills. I can weld and read manuals, and can turn wrenches with the best of them, ok, not the best, but I'm better than average. I even wouldn't mind going to a carb. The RS has an auto tranny. I could even make a swap to a 5 or 6 speed if you think that would make it easier. The swap is no prob. I just need some advice on what power plant to go with and what all I would need to make the swap happen, as far as gear goes. I would appreciate any info you would have. After that is all done, i have a **** ton of work to do with the body and the inside, one of the things i was also wondering was what other years of camaro I could get body and interior parts from besides the 97 RS.
Thanks again,
Lcpl Barrier

Default RE: 97 RS swap

I don't recommend the swap being that the V8 version are easily available. However; if you really want to do it, the best way is to purchase a donor car and start swapping parts.
