So the advantage for them is what, a smaller and less complex engine is what you are saying, right?
You are welcome. This is one place the ricers really have an advantage on us. With those FWD inline four cylinders you can pop the head off, drop the oil pan upgrade you pistons, connecting rods and head gasket in a few hours. Add in a 100% bolt in turbo kit it takes a weekend and about $2500. Like a cheap NO2 kits there is still stuff you should add but its gets you real close.

More like a combination of easy to upgrade motors and the smaller systems are more economical. I do not know the imports well but with the 2.4 Z24 motor the factory crank and block will easly handle twice the factory HP. If the timing chain was not such a PITA the engine upgrade would be an afternoon and about 500 bucks. The same job in a 3.8 or a 3.4 is a pretty big under taking.
