Some of you may remember back in may, I raced a black 240sx and beat him by a considerable lenth. (over 7 car lenths) So a week or so ago, we got talking about another race. This time he would be driving a white 240sx that had a turbo charger on it. I got a look at the car today, it was completly gutted out. No carpets or anything. I must weight atleast 700 lbs more than him. Performence wise the turbo was putting out about 7 lbs of boost. Had an aftermarket intercooler, exhuast, sway & strut bars and a few other minor bolt ons.

So, this is shapping up to be a very good race. He has a slight advantage becuase he is lighter, has more HP and is a manual. However I have alot more tourq and more grip. So we decied to race today and finally settle this.

Race #1 - The flagger cought us booth off guard but I still luanch much better & got a good jump on him. And to put ontop of that he missed a shift. So I finish about 6 lenths ahead of him.

Race #2 - We both have almost equal R/T and luanch good. He got a better jump than me but I was right next to him. We stayed side by side for only a second, at the 300' mark he started inching away and put a 1/2 lenth on me. Then he shifted & put another car ontop of that. Somwhere between 80 & 90 he stopped pulling and I started to creep up a little bit, but it was too late. The race was over & he won by 1 1/2 lenths.

Race #3 - So now its tied 1-1 and this race decieds the winner. We go back and stage the cars, then give them a minute to cool down. This was the big race, whoever won this one was offically the winner. So as they are staging the 240 and I am out of the car with the hood up to get heat out. It starts to sprinkle with rain. And about 20 seconds later it begins to poor. We all wait a minute, but the rain just kept getting heavier. So we delayed this one. We will have to finish it somother time.

I think I did pretty well though. That car is pretty fast, I would like to do a longer race were I might catch up. But when we race again I might have to do some weight reduction & my best luanch possible. Wish me luck

You definitely have quite a bit more power than him. He's taking off well, but doesn't have as much power to overcome the wind resistance. Above 110 or so, I would expect you to just walk all over him.

 

okay now im just going to put my imput on this i own a 240 with a turbo Sr20det swap and i also own a v8 camaro, my 240 isnt stock frount mount, manifold, downpipe, exhaust, boost controller set at 10lbs, thats it, i ran a 12.8 my first run ever in it, my buddy has a 2000 camaro 3800 auto he was runing 16s all day long, so unless this guy is that bad at driving i call bull cause he should have raped you,, even on the highway hes going to kill you, i can top my speedo out in 3rd gear with no problems and thats 120mph and i can keep going and going

he should be making at least 200hp and 210 ft lbs to the wheels

 

Is that a miss print.[>:]. first off if its a cheaply done SR20 swap with no tunning or bolt ons its only puting about 170 HP to the ground. Now with bolt ons and tuning the car can make well over 220 HP with only about 1100 bucks under her hood. However if the owner has messed around with the AF or vacume lines or has any type ofboost leak the car could be slower to hit boost or may not even hit full boost or beruning crazyrich. Also 7 psi is low even for stock boost on a SR20. Also i ran a moded SR20 two weeks ago in a well done 240. Tuning, injecters, FMIC, turbo back andslicks the guy was runing low 14s. I dont think that there is any SR20 with out upgraded turbo thats running in the 12s.

 

I have a time slip at home from about 2 weeks ago against a swapped 240, and I beat the guy by almost a full second. Turbo cars don't have to be ridiculously fast. A turbo 4 can make 150hp, or 750hp. It's all about the tuning and mating the right parts together; unlike a Camaro, where the more cool aftermarketstuff you throw at it, the faster it goes.

 

My MSP ran 15.2 with catback and INJEN CAI at 6 Pounds [>:]. But thats ok it has a new set of RX8 18s on her and she still gets about 28 MPG in town .

 

you guys are crazy the people you run must be the ****test drivers in the world, even look at the project car mag they did with the sr20det swapped 240 it made 150 to the wheels completly stock, they stuck a dowpipe and test pipe, exhaust, boost controller they were making 200 to the wheels on a dyno, and they were runing the stock plastic intercooler,

theres a kid about 20 minutes from me who never drove a stick before and did the engine swap himself took his 240 to the track and was runing low 13s on his STOCK TURBO by the time the day was over on street tires.

i wish you guys lived by me, me and the other 240s would have a field day spanking you asses all night long,
