And I have seen LS1s with stock bottom ends lift the front wheels. Yes I agree there are four bangers and V6 out there that are very fast. With the exception of the block how many stock parts do you think are on those motors? When you build a motor 100% after market part it can be built anyway you want. You either have to custom make parts (Big$$$) or you are a slave to what exists in the after market. The grand nash taught us the 3.8 can run into the 11 seconds and we have seen 3800 run into the 8 second area. At that point its all about time and money.
I concider a 11 second car fast, To get a 3800 to 11 seconds you would need to upgrade just about every part of the motor and drive line. To get a LS1 in 11 seconds its a few weekend and some bolt on parts. When the LS1's where 25K it was worth it to built the 3.8 but now you can pick a whole LS1 that needs head gaskets for the price of a turbo kit. Don't get me wrong if you love you 3.8 and you want to make it faster go for it. Just don't think your up for a day at the track blowing V8s away. All of us that have been working on these 3.8s have seen the people work on and build these motors just to come back and whine cause they got out run by some kid with a couple mods and a bunch of stickers on his car.
