hey guys i have a 97 camaro RS and I've had an exhaust leak ever since i bought the car and now its been getting annoying. when i checked for the leak the flanges where fine but the manifold was cracked. instead of jb welding i was thinking of just replacing them since there in real bad shape (northern car).

i've notice that 99 and up 3.8s manifolds look like headers and would be better then what i have now. i was wondering if they would be a direct fit and hook up to my stock y pipe. thanks

 

The upgraded manifolds are from 2000-2002. The updated manifolds will fit the older engines without a problem but the Y pipe is different. I dont know how much different but it is a different price and part number in my books at work.

There is a good 6 inch differents, You need the Y pipe off the 00-02 car.

 

What Gorn said. There is a huge difference between the manifold and Y-pipe designs from 99 to 00 and it will not even come close to fitting. You'd be better off to wait and buy a set of headers with a Y-pipe. Pacesetters for example.

 

You said nothern car. If you meant north california I got an extra ser for cheap from a 96
