Default Replacing my 4l60 w/ 700r4?

I was reading around and apparently the 4l60 and 700r4 are the same transmissions. Mine has too many miles and I would like one that shifts harder. I found a performance 700r4 on craigslist with a 2500 stall, and I need to know if it would fit before I buy it.

Im a noob to these cars but i have read that they r the same too and should fit right in as long as the bell housing is the same. If possible just use the old bell housing again not sure if the 4l60e housing will go on a 700r4 but it sounds that way.

I have a 4l60 and I want to replace it with a 700r4, It would be great if all I need to do is change the bellhouseing to make it fit.

Most 700R4 and 4l60 trans have a one pc case. You can not swap the bell housing. There is a version of both transmission that has a removable bell housing but I think those where the hvy duty application. I don't think I have ever seen a bell housing for a V6.

700R4 was renamed because of all the issues the transmission had in its early life. Some people just would not buy a car with a 700R4 in it. The 90's 700R4s where solid transmissions.

Im not sure on this one but maybe look around and see what you can find. Are the two bell housing or cases the same?

so wheres the link to the trany so we can see what it is? add to what gorn has said, just any 700r4/4l60 trany will not fit, it has to be compatable with your wiring and computer and has to have the correct mount location and rear ouput shaft length. you will need a not so common 5 pin plug on the tcc control connection for your 93. heres a couple sites to look over, good places to deal with. the first site has some good info on the 700r4

Heres the link to the trans:

It looks pretty close to mine where the harness plugs in on the side. Will it fit?

Sure looks like a standard V8 700R4 to me so no that will not fit.

Hmm, in that case... Is there anywhere I can get a performance 4l60?
