Well I found a guy that did it for $60. But I already had it out of the car and ready to clean and resurface. It'll probably be about $100 if you take it to a smaller shop.

Mine is going to go up because I just got a speeding ticket in my 3.8 :/ I'm 20 but with my car being a V6 it didn't go up too much.

The 3800 Series II engine was on Ward's 10 Best Engines from '95 to '97 so it was definitely a great engine. I love my V6 and with my heavy foot if it was a V8 I'd be going through gas very quickly.

Buick definitely did a great job designing the 3800 II. I completely agree with your V8 statement. If I had a V8 I would be spinning tires at every green light, and burning gas like no other. I love my V6 and I wouldn't trade her for anything. ( she wouldn't let me if I tried... )

I love my 3.8L. I dont have the power that my wife's car has but I think my car is much more fun to cruise in. I can still get on it hard and let people know I have a Camaro. I can take most V8s from the 70's 80's and early 90's, and most ricers too. Granted I dont have that nice rumble that my Wife's Z does and I dont have the ability to leave a trail of rubber on the ground like she can but I dont have to stop as often at the pump as she does.

I had the option to replace my 3.8L with an LS1 when the 3.8 died but I went with the 3.8L again. Great engine, good power, good economy. Yea I am keeping it just the way it is.

The insurance cost on a 3.4L is lower than 3.8L, not by a lot, though.
