3.4 random question
i had to get my car towed due to fuel pump issues a week ago then i took my car to get the battery checked.
both times the tow truck driver and person checking my battery said
oh nice 3.4 all you need to do is turbocharge it then you got a bad a$$ car.
personally i say drop in a v8 or even a 3.8 then sup it up.
what is the more logical way of gettin power. (without buying a new car lol)

Well either one is going to get you more power, so it really depends on how much more power you're looking for... and what your pocketbook and time-table look like...
A swap to the 3.8L would probably be a little more powerful than your turbo option, but not enough more to be worth the extra money, time, or effort. A swap to a v8 would definitely be your most powerful option (especially if you can find a Vette motor), but that's way more expensive.
I personally drive the 3.8L and think it's plenty of power, but it's also my daily driver and I don't race (and it's got nearly 300k miles). The question you really want to ask is "how powerful do I really want this thing to be?" You don't want to sup up a daily driver too much, but if yours is for show, racing, etc. then you want the biggest, baddest thing you can get.

yeah my car is a DD. and i drive 40 miles 4 times a day so i dont wanna go too crazy on adding stuff. But when i get into a career field after college then im gonna go crazy on it.
V8 swap, shaved door handles, cut the roof off for t-tops, and everything else.
I was just making sure that it would be better to start out big and go bigger than small and then max it out. It would seem like all the ricers just super charging and putting 50 lbs of boost.
thanks for the info it shed some light on the options out there.

It sounds to me like your best option is to wait until you've started your career and saved a bit of cash, get another car for DD, and then max this one out with a nice LS motor. Your 3.4L will have plenty of power for a DD until then, and you'll be glad you waited. If you're wanting a play car, you'll love a Camaro with an LS, especially since there are more mods you can do after that swap to make it even more powerful.
