Default 3.4 owners, idle speed?

I have about 300 miles on the rebuilt 3.4 as of today. One thing that concerns me is the idle speed. The tach shows it to be 1000 RPM, maybe half a needle below. Seems unusually high to me. I'd expect 650 -750. What are other owners seeing? My car is an automatic.
I have junkyard pull ignition module/coil packs from a 93 in the car at the moment to test them but I'll be surprised if that is causing the high idle speed. Old service orders that came with the car noted a high idle speed so this issue has (apparently) been around for awhile.
In any event I don't know how I'd *change* the idle speed without changing parts. IAC motor? PCM? It's not owner adjustable AFAIK. The computer will operate the IAC motor to give the value it believes is correct.

My 1994 3.4 idles at about 900-1000rpms. Mine is a manual tho. Not sure if that changes anything or not.

My 95 3.4 auto idles around 900-1000 too.

Okay, thanks for the input. Maybe mine is okay. What's weird is that the Haynes Repair Manual makes no mention of idle speed in the specs section for the 3.4. Also, the underhood emissions label says only that spark plug gap = 0.045" and then "No other adjustments are possible." That label always *gives* the idle speed and *then* states that adjustment is not possible. Why it's not even given is a mystery to me.
Oh well, I have more important fish to fry...

Mine is 5spd and idles 900 to 1000ropm as well. The IAC motor controls the idle so cleaning it out with some Seafoam or TB cleaner might help it idle a little lower.

My friend has a 95 3.4L his idle is about 900-1000 with the car in N or park, when the car is in gear it drops to around 600 or so. Most Auto cars have a slightly higher RPM to counter the drag from the torque converter when the car is in gear. So your idle sounds about right.

Mine idles at 900 in park or neutral. When I put it in drive it drops momentarily but returns right back to 900. I guess I'll drive around with the scan tool for a while and see what the various readings are. No codes are present and the SES lamp is off. ABS inop is on, though, but I doubt that would affect idle speed.
