Default 3.4 Gas Mileage

I'm gettin about 14.5 miles per gallon with my 3.4, to my understanding thats not very good--I don't have any really bad driving habits, the thing never gets past 3500RPMs. Any suggestions to improve mileage? Will be changing the fuel filter this weekend, anything else I can do while i'm at that?

Changing the fuel filter won't do much for mileage but may make your car run better. A clean air filter and a good tune up will help a lot more.

holy ****...my old 307 V8 got 14mpg combined. My 3.8 gets around 19city/27highway (when i drive nice . Stock a 3.8 gas mileage was like 20/28 and the 3.4's were like 19/27 (it was like 1mpg less than the 3.8)...so your WAY off

LIST:
Tune Up (Plugs, Wires and maybe coilpacks)
Fuel Filter
Air Filter
Check to make sure brakes aren't rubbing
Tire Pressure

(gas mileage and what helps it is very controversial...so hopefully some big debate doesn't start here)

mines a 96...and the worst i've recorded driving pedal to the floor most of the time, was around 17...might as well have a V8 w/ that gas mileage.

try doing some of the stuff i put on that list. Oh and also at fueleconomy.gov list all the stock mpg

Thanks for the replies, the plugs are about 6-8 months old, time to change? Gonna order an intake kit with K&N filter soon.

depends on what plugs you used...for future recommendation, use acdelco iridiums or NGK's...dont use Valuecraft bs autozone brand, and i've heard bosches aren't good either

wow...i didnt know 3.4's suck gas that bad...i had a 455 bbk in a G-body cutty that got 10mpg...thats only 5less mpg and more than 2x the displacement.

but anyways, there has to be something going wrong w/ your guys' cars, b/c they should be getting better than that. 14mpg kind of takes away of the whole point of having a camaro v6

There has to be something wrong with a 3.4 getting 15 mpg, mine is running bad and out of tune and it is getting about 18 -20 and ya with that kind of gas mileage might as well be driving a v8
