Hi guys my 95 camaro 3.4 v6 engine is making a click clack sound. sounds like it's coming from the top end of the engine in the camshaft area anybody know what it can be

 

got me stumped. maybe try covering parts of the motor up to see if you can localize the location

 

You'll be surprised it sounds worse like this with the engine out of the car rather than when it was running inside the car sounded like a lifter tap.

I found out the issue though it was the timing chain tensioner guide.

timing chain has to much slack it chewed up the guide I pulled the guide off doesnt make that sound anymore how ever im stiil concerned where the little chunk from the guide fell I didn't find it in the oil pan

 

time to look for a new timing chain set

 

I wondered if it could be under the front cover. never had a 3.4 so don't know much about them.
