3.4 DOHC V6
Has anyone ever heard of anyone swapping in a 3.4 DOHC V6 out of like a Lumina in a Camaro. I have a 94 Camaro with a bad 3.4 and I 'm parting out a 91 Lumina Z34 with a good 3.4 DOHC. Just wondering if this has been done by anyone.
Thanks, Steve

RE: 3.4 DOHC V6
You can do anything if you have enough money and time and talent, but I think this changeout would be more difficult than you think. DOHC engines are taller, wider, and heavier than pushrod engines of the same displacement. Not sure it will fit, but again, with enough money.
The easiest thing to do is replace it with a similar model engine. But if you want more power, you will find it easier and more satsifying to switch out for an LT1 or even an older 305 if money is tight. If you are on a budget, I'd try to trade the DOHC 3.4 for a running V8.

RE: 3.4 DOHC V6
The DOHC is a cobbled up engine using the 3.4 transverse block and 2 humongous DOHC heads bolted on top of it, It weighs about as much as a V8. It is rated between 200 and 210 HP. There is no off the shelf equipment to modify it. Because it is a transverse engine it does not have bosses on the side of the block for motor mounts. I have one of those in a 93 Grand Prix that is sitting in my garage. It was an OK engine at the time, but current engines of that design make anywhere from 50 to 100 more HP.

But don't lose that TDC engine, those are FUN to swap into Fieros...they can rev to the SKY if they're put together right. The heads are huge and heavy, but they flow a LOT of air. Light application of turbo and HP shoots to 300 or so.
But for a big heavy F-body? Find a V8 or a 3.8 6er and sell/give me your junked 3.4 pushrod engine for really cheap, and sell your DOHC 3.4 on a Fiero or Wbody forum. (I'd buy the DOHC from you for my Fiero if I didn't already have some nice Go-Fast parts for the Pushrod v6.)
BTW: What's wrong with the 3.4 pushrod?
