Default 1998 3.8L Auto Stutter/Misfire?

I have a 1998 Camaro that just had the engine cleaned and head gaskets replaced, as well as new coils, spark plugs, plugs, radiator, and tires, which is irrelevant here (lol).

So the car ran great once out of the shop, but it's now got a hard stutter and stumble on acceleration. There are no engine codes popping up or anything. I was wondering if anyone knew of cam/crank position sensors or MAF sensors possibly being the cause or if anyone has had any issues like this themselves?

Thanks!

get the car scanned it may not throw a light... if any sensor is out or there is a misfire then it will defiantly throw a code

Update: Did some tests and noticed 2 vac hoses that were shot, replaced them, and car runs much better now. Will let you know if problem picks back up or if it was the fix that we needed! thanks!

Well, unfortunately it's started back up again. Believe it could be spark plugs (again, after being replaced 2 times now) or something along those lines. Will fuel pressure test and do all the other stuff tomorrow hopefully. Will keep you all updated!

Didn't want to open a new thread, so here's a Big question for anyone that would know.

So my '98 Camaro as before mentioned with the 3800 v6 was running ok until 2 weeks ago when it started misfiring BADLY coming up the hill to my apartment complex. Luckily, I was able to shut it off immediately and let it coast into the parking spot where it sat until yesterday when I had it towed to the nearest shop. They mechanic did some tests as we thought they were electrical issues (again) but nothing was showing except the awesome EGR valve sticking open code that's been up for a couple months and transmission slipping (the rear seal is recently broke so it leaks tranny fluid from time to time now.) as well as the multiple misfire code.

So the tech unplugged the #1 plug wire and took out the plug, checked it, seemed fine, did a compression test, read 150psi, put it back together, and WALA, the car started with no misfires. However, now, I have the heart-stopping sound of a rod knock, however we haven't checked to see if it actually is an issue as it's obviously going to be a lot of money.

Would the car misfire 2 weeks ago have caused a rod or a bearing to get spun or start knocking or what could this be considering it had zero knocking issues before this incident? Thanks for anyone that can give some feedback, I appreciate it.

BTW, it is time for an oil change, 50 miles over 3000 since the last.

Part 1. Take a good look at the #1 plug wire as it may be bad and goes good temporarily when handled.
Part2. There is the possibility that the misfire allowed fuel to wash through the rings into the crankcase and dilute the oil. Try an oil change and see if the knock persists.

Will do and let you know how it goes. Thanks!

Well, changed the oil today, still knocking sound. Actually took a video of it if anyone could tell me if it sounds top end or bottom end.. Blew the HG again i'm sure since it's blowing water and smoke out the exhaust. Thanks for everyone's opinion!

Well, after posting the video, I was able to get the car to the mechanic that put it together from the last rebuild and he called me up saying it was a collapsed lifter. Hopefully we figure out if it's a plugged galley or a pump issue as well.
