1996 Cruise control won't work v6 3.8
I bought this car a couple weeks ago. Checked the fuse and its fine. Was told the module has been changeg out. Was told maybe the cable was stuck. Where can i find a trouble shooting guide that wire show wiring & cable replacements. No light appears on dash when button is pressed. Can it be the cruise/turn lever?
No light ever appears when you turn cruise control on. You might check to see if it is even hooked up to the throttle... The throttle body should have to two cables running to it on the driver side.
It has two cables. One goes through the fire wall into the driver compartment. The other goes under the front left tire area. Not for sure it the module is located there. Goes into a area covered by a mug flap/cover.
Q: Why has my cruise control suddenly stopped working?
A: Check the third brake light. It seems some cars with a blown brake bulb will disable the cruise control system. If this is not the problem, then check with your dealer as there is a Technical Service Bulletin (#569002A) for this which calls for replacement of the cruise control module with an updated one. Apparently, the stepper motor is too sensitive to input from the brake pedal switch causing it not to work at all.

cruise control system has a lot of functions. it can accelerate or decelerate the car by 1mph. replace it asap to avoid any problems on your car.
