Alright when im driving i think when its in like 3rd gear (Automatic) it makes a weird *** noise from the motor and doesnt really go. its doesnt do it the whole time but its like when i tap the gas a lil bit. if i floor it it makes the noise for like 3 seconds mayb then it clears up. it only does it in 3rd gear

Are you sure it is coming from the motor and not the tranny area? Have you scanned it for codes? Just from the post, it sounds like there could be a tranny component slipping or the pump.

 

ya it might be and ya i forgot to put up that the service engine light comes on almost everytime i havent got it scanned yet

 

When the check engine lamp lights, it is a very good idea to scan the computer and see what the complaint is. The light is not for decoration, but you can do as many people do, and throw parts at the problem until the light goes out.

ya im goin to take it to autozone or somethin and get it scanned and ill post you guys the codes.. but to explain the noise is kinda hard its kinda like a boging noise a lil and its only in 3rd gear its weird as hell

 

if its only in third I'd say to pull the tranny pan and look for shavings. Service engine soon doesn't necessarily mean engine. Chevy was trying a lot of new things with the 3.8s in 99, they made some changes to the heads, therefore creating lots of extremely annoying problems. Thats why i say, new engine may be best.

 

i checked the pan yesturday but didnt drop it and it kinda looks like its leaking but not enough to leak on the ground and its a 3.4 1994

 

did you check the fluid level?
