Default 1995 Camaro Z/28 rims

I have a pair of Z/28 rims, wondering what I can do to clean them up, I was thinking maybe sand blast them but I thought they might be aluminum so I shouldn't sand blast them. I'm not 100% sure what they are made of so if anyone knows how i could clean them up let me know there pretty bad but I don't care I like these kind and just wondering if anyone knows for sure thanks for reading and advice or help.

clean them up how exactly? are they dirty with brake dust or do have they been spray painted some color that doesn't match your camaro? they are made of aluminum alloy (I think on the alloy part 99% sure they are aluminum.)

They have a couple bad curb rash spots and honestly idk like grime just dirty and it looks like the alloy is starting to come off. they were never painted or anything just really blotchy and grimy. i know i will just power wash them but i want more then that.

Try stripping them with aircraft stripper, that should take the clear/paint off of them. They were painted at the factory I believe.

The factory clear coated the rims after they were blasted. The outer part of the rim was also machined before clearing. To match the factory look you would need to blast them with a super fine material such as soda, and then have them put on a lathe to clean up the outer edge, then lastly re-clear coat them. Some of the rims were aluminum/chrome but most were just cleared aluminum. The "Salad Shooter" rims were machine finished then cleared. It will be really hard to bring back that appearance, alot of people will just simply repaint them black or a complimenting color to the car.
