Default 1994 V6 Fan problem

My 1994 cooling fan only works with A/C on. Where do I start looking?

Thanks

Start with the engine coolant temp sensor, not the temp gage sensor.

Pete,
How do I reprogram the PCM for the 160 thermostat in my 1994 V6 camaro? Thanks

You can try a held held programmer, like Hypertech, or find a shop that has the tuning software. Considering what it costs to get the PCM tuned to properly utilize the 160 t'stat, and the small amount of power gain, if any, it will give, personally I would forget about it, or put in a manual switch for the fan.

94's are 4th Gen...

Anyways...check your coolant temp switch and your thermostat. A stuck thermostat won't let the coolant by the coolant temp switch heat up fast enough for the fan to come on.

Your car really does not have a temp switch for the fan, but the PCM uses the signal from the ECT sensor, among other uses,to command the fan ON & OFF.At one timethere was a dedicated thermoswitch for the fan.
