Default 1993 3.4 - Security Light Flashing - Auto

Ok , let my girlfriend drive the camaro for the first time down to the gas station, first mistake. she calls me up and says the car wont start. so i drive her honda down and I see the security light flashing,

-left the key in for 30 min. no change
-disconected the batt. for 20 min no change
- got a new key today, no change

I remember reading that you could bypass the ignition reading the code from the key by twisting the yellow and purple wire together but that was for a 95. Just wondering exactly what to do so I dont screw this up.

have you tried leaving the key turned on but not starting for 30seconds then turn off remove key for 3 mins then try to start it... or maybe even wipe the key off maybe there is some sort of dirt on the resister chip on the key...

Why is that, what am i getting myself into? is it not just cutting the wire and putting a resistor in?
