150,000 miles
I have a 2000 Camaro - V6 - 3.8 - automatic. I purchased the car new and have taken very good care of it - lots of highway miles - about to hit 150,000. I love this car - never been more pleased with a car. I have my mechanic inspect the car when any maintance is required. He says the 3.8 V6 is a great engine (real workhorse as he puts it) & he does not see any problems (doesn't burn oil, etc.). My question is - I know that 150,000 is a lot of miles - any thoughts on long you can run a car that has been well maintained? How much would I be pushing it to get another 30 or 40,000 miles out of if? I would be interested in any information regarding high mileage. Thanks
Things are going to break more often because of age, so maintenance expenses will increase. The engine itself, if the oil pressure is good, and it is not burning much oil, should reach the 200K mark. Just don't push it too hard, and keep changing oil and filter per schedule.
You can make a car run for a very long time if you don't wreck it, and keep up with repairs, but it may not be the economical thing to do, but if you really like the car, hey what the hell.....

Thank you z28pete for your response. Just trying to decide if I want to spend very much maintaining a car with this amount of miles. Daily driver and has to be dependable. Good to hear that some of the engines may go to 200,000 - of course you never know - could break down tomorrow. Again thanks.
