will 3.8 trans work in a 3.4

Default will 3.8 trans work in a 3.4

i have a transmission for a 3.8 and a friend is wanting it but i dont know if it will work with his 3.4? can any of you help me? i dont want to give it to him and it not work

nope, bolt pattern is different

With SII 3800 GM when with the 60V bolt pattern. The bell housing bolt are the same, do you mean the converter? I am not sure of the diameter of the torque converter, I think the electronics will be differents because the 3.4 is OBD1 and the 3800 is OBD2

Trans has the same part number. Use the 3.4 bell housing and 3.4 input shaft. Those are the only two parts of the trans that are different as far as I know.

Are you say that no matter the year they are all the same? Because a 93 would not even be an E and completley different setup. I know on the LT1's 94-95's are old ***** because of the PCM shifting harness.

Chaotic is reefering to a manual trans. Katzen never said if he was talking about an auto or manny tranny.

Ha,,, didn't even notice, I always assume auto unless they say stick.

So the short answer is no it is not plug and play.
