transmission problems in my 94 z28
my transmission is gone in my 94 z28,its my only transportation right now, iam going to rebuild the one that's in it at a later date ,what I need to know is are there any other cars that use the same trans as my 94 that I could put in my car temporarily till I get the original one built like I want , my problem is I live in Alaska and there aren't a lot of camaros around for parts.so if you know of any cars ,I was thinking a caprice or 2 wheel drive truck or something. HELP. the sled dog team is not an option

I really don't know the answer to your question because of the electronics in these transmissions. I have a 95Z28 and also have transmission problems and from my research I have found that it is suggested to rebuild the transmission that is in the car. Sorry I could not be of more help to you.

The trans needs to come from a Camaro because that is the only car that has a toque arm mount. It needs to come from a 94 because the 93 is not electronic shift and the 95 has different electronics. I think one of our regulars posted a guide on how to switch a 94 and 95 but I am not sure where it is. I think the 1996 is too different to convert.
For future reference any salvage yard should have books/computer system that will tell you what converts to what. Unless they are real butt heads they should just tell you if they do not have what you need. They also can do a search for other yards.

In 1993, all rear wheel drive cars still had the 4L60 (renamed 700R4). Trucks, vans & SUV's however got the 4L60E in 93, which is what your 94 has. The F bodies have a torque arm mount, as Gorn mentioned, but that mount is part of the bolt on tail housing that you can unbolt and bolt onto a conventional 4L60E. I would take a tape measure to compare your tail housing length, and start looking under some 1994 cars or 1993-94 2wd trucks.
