Default t56 kicks out of reverse??

So im going to look at a 2001 camaro z28 with 118k on it and the guy told me that it kicks out of reverse once in a great while. He said that its a common prob with these tranny's and is just from a worn out shift forks. So is this a common prob and is there anyways i can tell if it is the shift fork with out taring it apart? And if i buy a short throw shifter and it is the fork than the problem should go away right? Any help with this would be great!

the forks and the short throw are two different things so it will not fix the problem every once in a while mine wont go fully into reverse but as long as you push it in good mine works fine

any six speed that has been speed shifted will do that after a while.
