Swapping steel driveshaft for aluminum

Interesting post. Had the stock 2 piece drive line replaced way back when my 96 was under warranty because the center bearing on the original was simply a bushing that started squealing. Updated model had an actual bearing.

So you are saying you can replace the entire assembly with a one piece aluminum? Mine is a 96 RS with V6 auto trans.

OK I see them on ebay.

I wonder why Chevy went with the two piece to begin with? Hmmm

yep any one piece shaft from a 4th gen will work.
