Default New here and have a question on my 2002 camaro

I have a 2002 Camaro v6. I have searched the forum and found nothing. I noticed my transmission won't shift from 1st and 2nd till I hit about 3k rpms and thats taking it easy on the pedal. She has 155k on it and just never had a car take so long to shift was curious if any one here could shed some light on the whole thing.

have you had a service engine light come on? check trans fluid. have it scanned for trouble codes. parts store should scann it for you for free. it can be a few things. vss/speed sensor, throttle position sensor, map/maf, or it could be internal to the trans

It could be that it shifting from first to third, skiping second. Does it have fourth gear? what about reverse?

if it were a 700r4 i would say the tv cable needs adjusting. 4l60e is electronic. stopping by a trans shop may be in order.

In your transmission the shifts are controlled by a combination of hydraulic pressure and computer data. If something is not allowing pressure to build like it should it will cause a delayed shift. So it could be a sticky valve in the valve body, a leaking accumulator or a clutch pack not holding pressure. Both the valve body and accumulator can be worked on with the trans in the car. Everything else is a rebuild.

A good transmission tech can run pressure test and make a educated guess on where the pressure is dropping. He would also verify that the PCM is telling it to shift at the correct time. The challenge will be to find a transmission mechanic that will really look at it and not just tell you that you need a rebuild.
