Default Limited Slip Diff Is Shot???

I put a LSD rear end in my Camaro from a z28 Camaro and when I first put it in, if I spun one tire by hand while the car was jacked up, the other tire would spin the same direction. Now when I spin one tire while the car is jacked up, the other tire spins the oposite direction.. Did I blow the limited slip clutches out of the rear end???

Try holding the tire from spinning backwards and see if the LSD engages. Some time it takes a bit of load on both tires to get the clutches to catch. If that is the case you may want to change the rear lube before going for the gusto.

Put one rear tire on the ground, trans in neutral, and if torque wrench shows less than 35 ft/lbs to 'break' the clutched, then nest step would be to change oil and add a bottle of GM Limited Slip additive, do some figure 8's to disperse the additive about the clutches, and recheck breaking torque.
If still less then 35 ft/lbs with torque wrench, then clutches are shot along with springs.

If replace clutch pack, adjust each axle gear separately for 0.006" backlash, then assemble carrier.

When it's in neutral, the other tire doesn't spin. If its in gear, the other tire spins opposite.

If the tire requires very little effort to spin with trans in gear, then clutch pack is toast.

The reason the tire does not spin with trans in neutral, the other tire brake is dragging.
