Default front suspension

i have a '96 camaro rs 3.8. there is a clunking noise when i turn to the right and it sounds like the strut or like the spring has gone bad. also one day i would like to have this be my project car and put a v8 in it and was wondering if i have to beef up suspension in the front or if it doesn't matter. thanks

could be ball joint, control arm bushings, sway bar ends or bushings, tie rod ends, get under there and have someone turn the wheel from side to side and see if you can see anything moving when it shouldnt. you would need another car the same yr with a motor and trany to use as a donor car, these cars are built motor and trany spacific so suspension, wiring, computer and trany would need to be changed with the motor.

I'd take a look at the strut tower. When you turn the wheel, does it make a distinctive "pop" sound?

if it clunks on a right turn also check the left front hub bearing.
