Project 96

I paid $1000 for my car, and have put probably 3-4x that into it (mods and fixes) so far...so it could be worse haha

Looks like this car will be put out to pasture this summer. Windshield cracked out of no where. I am thinking I might keep the motor and trans to put into some other project. Maybe a early 80's El Camino or a Monza.
The body has made it to 220,000 miles that is a 100,000 miles since I installed the motor. It is still getting 29-30 MPG. Not bad for a $2500 investment. Now onto project 93

Sold it, hopefully the new guy continues this. He said he is going to fix it. Hopefully he doesn't find too many mistakes I made

Continuing Project 96
I'm the guy who bought project 96. Just an update on it, I replaced the leaking coolant hoses and had a new windshield put in. Then I got the car inspected. The power steering pump blew so I'll be replacing that shortly. I have stuff planned over the summer for it and can't wait. Gorn, who I bought it off of is a top notch guy. I'm definitely gonna follow his builds. Thanks a lot.

Sitting takes a toll on anything that relies on seals. I believe I replace the power steering hoses just a few years ago. Master cylinder may be suspect also but it never gave me a reason to work on it.
Just a reminder.
Back brakes, I never touched. They should be inspected closely.
Trans fluid should be checked. Again I never did that. If you look back in this thread you will see I used Royal Purple syndic if you need to add some. Fluid in the rear also, I never did anything to the rear, I always assumes I would be swapping to a posi/disk setup.
Might be a good idea to go over the underside of the car and look for rust spots and treat them with, permatex rust converter, then some paint after it dries. I have not done that since 2012ish. The hardware store in your town used to carry it. I bought some there in the past. In fact a lot of the hardware on the car came from their stainless bolt/washer section.
Plug and wires should be done at some point. They are from 2009. Funny thing is they are the AC delco OEM plugs and wires. I think they were $1.49 each and. All the sites were suggesting these crazy expensive plugs cause they would last longer. 8 years and 100k seems ok to me. Some of those recommended plugs were $12 per plug.
Good luck. If you need any parts and used is ok post here. If I have it, its yours. Last time I was at Joe's u-pull it they had 4th gens.

So an update on the car, power steering pump has been fixed. Also, one of the coolant elbows cracked, so I replaced both with aluminum ones. I did the plugs and wires, I just did plain autolite plugs with ACDelco wires. The rear now has a 19mm sway bar off of a 96 SS I believe, as well as a black center panel (between the tail lights) from an SS. I just had the exhaust redone too. It's a 2 1/2 catback through a magnaflow muffler with feaux titanium looking tips. More to come soon, I love this car! Sorry about the photo quality
