definitely hate you right now! engine parts are so fun! did you get them in the block?

 

they r goin in tonight. we might have a long block together tonight. our friends helpin hes bringin a degree wheel for the cam it'll be a fun night ill get lots of pics for you

 

well last night went well. hit one bump in the road but cruised the rest of the way. we hav a short block. pistons r in rod bolts reclearanced and torqued the cam is in and degreed the whole timing chain set up is on as well. the one thing that we had a problem with is the rods needed to be spun around because there's a thicker side and we had it facing wrong. so here's the pics i took throughout the night. tonight we'll get some play doe and check the valve clearance

yeah i am. but im also nervous/bummed. lik you may know our cage guy didnt do the door bars so all this time the cage has been unpainted and car still empty inside well he had surgery and now idk wat were doin with the door bars and since the interior isnt in it may keep the car from bein done and keep me from takin it to school.

 

not to get all mushy here but Dad is probably enjoying this isn't he?

I love to hear my son talk to his friends about what "he's doing to the car" when I'm the guy that's all covered in grease. But, he'll remember this for years and I'd rather be in the garage with my son no matter how late at night it is as opposed to him out causing trouble.

We're done with his car but I dragged him into rebuilding an engine on another car.

 

my dad enjoys it and hates it. like i said this is my first motor so he's been doin 90% of it but hes been doin more of the show me how and supervise thing. but i pretty much dropped the old motor dropped the old rear and istalled the new rear with some of his help. but my dads been pretty awesome with puttin this car together. things we cant do hes had friend that can has all the tools we need so its been time spent with him befor i go away to school

 

so hold on...you're going to have a nasty *** car AND you're getting a lot of bonding time? sounds like a win-win to me!

 

yep. ive spent more time with my dad doin this then i have probably my whole life. i wouldnt ever let him coach me or anything cuz i hated it and he'd **** me off so it was always my mom takin me to my games and my dad wit my bro with this its just me and him. and even though he wanted to build a rail we will still hav a fast car in the end

 

well we went out last night and played with play dough lol. we actually used play dough to check valve clearance which there was plenty of clearance. then we bolted the heads down. here's some pics hopefully there big.
